PostSubject: People of the world - pictures... and ... feelings   Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:14 pm

I would like to start a discussion about the people... every kind of people everywhere.
I like taking pictures about them, with permission of course, because you can understand many thing from them. I would not just fix a picture and say "Good picture!", "Nice!" or something like that, but I would like to comment light, composition, contrast ... and over all the feelings for your pictures and the pictures you can see here.

Very nice shot nice detail. I like the way that this shot is cropped and the way that the eye contact has been captured. Good use of dof too.

I like both of the images. The first image of Michele's is probably one of the best portrait shots I've seen in quite a while and I like the wedding shot too. Michele's shot is quite exotic, at least to my eyes and I'd like to see some more of that. The colors are what make it stand out. The skin tones are not those you would see in my part of the world. I don't know how I would make comments on the lighting, etc because I'm not that experienced, but I'd think that the part of the world you took this shot in would make a difference. Especially if the light is natural light. The DOF is working really well.

Thanks for all comments, I shoot it in London at a bus stop it is incredible how many different people live in London ... I love London you can see all the world just with a step!
I like your wedding shot, over all, because I can see they are smiling and it points out that particular time of life you should do it and than they feel confident and calm so I think they left the anxiety "At home"

I took this picture in Stuttgart. It is one of the few I have that show a person's
expression. I'd like to do a lot more of this style of photography, but it's not one
I've really thought about until I really started shooting on a regular basis. There
came a point when taking pictures of just things wasn't enough.

Thanks for posting the shot from Thailand.

The picture was taken at the Christmas Market here in Stuttgart about 3 years ago. I had a little P&S camera with a 3x zoom, so I had to crop the image quite a bit. It was enough to get the expression on the little boys face.

i like this train shot , and for me , the little boys face looking at the train driver , with the inclusion of the smoke says it all ... for me image sharpness in this shot is not to critical ' as it's the feeling you captured '

super........

michelepallaver , i really like the shot of the little girl , she looks deep in thought , and the colours are so vibrant ..........

It was a very hot day of Ausust, the mugginess was enveloping the boat we were sailing on, people were exhausted despite the air. Viatnamise women were wearing scarf an white glooves against the sun. They believe that dark skin means poor people. That's incredible! We want to be darkened, and for this reason a sunbath is a "must".
The difference of the world is the thing I like most !!

OK, well to keep them coming I dug through my flickr pile and came up with this really recent one from this Christmas. This time it's not a little boy, but a little girl:

Anyway, I wonder if it is an expression of wonderment at discovering Santa or just being tired and sleepy.

Children are so natural! They feelings are so clear, it is fantastic to take pictures of.
Last Christmas a friend of mine wore a Santa's dress and he put on his dog some little bells, climbed on the balcony and he went to the house. Inside there were my son and his daughter (2,5 years old both). It was fantastic they did not understand who he was and they were staring at him when he was speaking. After he went away they were so happy for the gifts that they forgot everything else. It was fantastic to see their amazement!
